Couldnt log into EQ server directory without p99 patch?
It's been probably six or more years since I last played private eq/project 99, and I didn't have any problems following the instructions back then, so I was quite dismayed when I just could not get past the login screen with a fresh titanium install and editting the eqhost file and the shortcut to launch eqgame.exe. I booted up eq, but couldnt log into my old account, even after i changed the password, it just said it couldn't connect and that i should check if the server waa down. I double check that I did all the steps correctly and sure enough they were all correct. No issues with the eqhost file. So then i thought its got to be ny port 5598 or something, and im not computer savvy, so i spent another hour-and-a-half trying to troubleshoot my network turning off my firewall and reinstalling EverQuest trying to figure out where i went wrong. Same results, can't get to beyond the login screen even after making a new eqemulator account.
So im like man theres gotta be answers somewhere. So i check out project1999s website snd they have a patch and from their patch you launch eq from their titanium file, so im like sure lets try installing that, and if not, fuck it i guess im not playing eq ever again cus im either an idiot or its too advanced for me and my old computer lol.
But sure enough, it worked! Hot diggity damn i can get my iksar craving satiated!
I needed that project 1999 patch just to log into the server selection screen, and select any server to play on!
Was this just me, or does the guide need to be updated to include downloading p99s zip file snd overwriting eq files and launching from titanium?
i swear i absolutely could not get it to work at all before that.
