akkstack - unable to get the character select screen

Hi

I have been running a small server just for friends and family (Honeytree) for the last few years on VMs. Over Easter I installed the akkstack and pointed everything to my old database. I am able to login through the public loginserver (or at least Honyetree is listed and is available) but my Rof client doesnt get as far as displaying the characters. It just hangs and waits before getting kicked out and returns to the logon screen. Any idea what could be the problem?
