Password too short, FAQ says 6 characters is OK

I was having problems logging into the server screen, so I found this in the FAQs. I created a new login and tried a 6-character password, but it says the password needs to be at least 8. Strange. Any ideas?

I can get to the login screen, but I get an error about my username or password being wrong.

Either you didn't follow the play guide and setup your login server accounts properly, or your password is too long. Try using a password that is 6 characters long.

I was finally able to log into my old account. However, it is peculiar where the FAQ says passwords should be 6 characters but the account creation says it must be at least 8 characters.
