Black Screen hang-ups in 6.0 update
Its becoming more and more random now it seems. Just simply adding a mob does it now sometimes. However, 99% of the time when I get passed character select and hang on a black screen, it is only after I have put a mob on a grid into the zone and exited completely out of EQ and tried to come back. There was only 1 time that it happened when I had no mobs on a grid but about 50+ already when there was a mob on a grid. Also, after adding a mob to a grid I had a friend try to log in, and he also got stuck at black screen which he was having no problems at all before that mob on the grid was added. This is getting very frustrating

There seems to be some prob with 0.6.0 and the databeses. The link on the main.php page for the databases is half correct, you also need to do other things that will make 0.6.0 work. I have only been able to get it to work with PEQ_Classic.sql. I cannot get it to work with any other database (even the empty one)

let me know if the black screen thing still happens using the version I just uploaded onto cvs. Also unknown opcode errors arent really errors, so ignore them for the most part.

So far so good, logging into a non-static zone with population is doing fine with the new cvs source...
Still need much more thourough testing on it...
But looking good, no black screens yet.

WOOT! Works for me - I created the same characted I've been doing since the problem occurred and he can now zone in!

Althought I am working, I'm still getting the beast lord pet thing. The zone windows have this going on a pretty constant basis...I'm assuming this is just a debugging feature you've turned on?

I've noticed something odd about the BL pet thing...
Ok, I get these messages when I log into Ak'Anon....
Here's what I found.
There are merchants, trainers etc.. that are actually classed as BL's. So they are trying to summon pets for them, when they don't have a pet type available... sooooooooo its summoning up a human model(normal) and naming it a warder.. I betcha if you search through the zone, you'll find the BL that it's referring to.

did an extensive test after updating to v1.21 of the CVS. Started every race in the game 2 times, and hoped ALL zones posable to get to, and not even one freeze up/black screen so far. I think ya got it fixed. Thanks so much for this! =)

I compiled the latest CVS as of about 8pm tonight (might not be the latest).. problem fixed!! Zoning in and out all over the place with no issues finally. I saw the changelog update at work this afternoon and was hoping it was one of those fixes through the cracks. But yeah, the latest CVS fixed this problem for me (not extensively tested, but definitely 10 fold better zoning compared to the last CVS so far).

Glad I can help I figured it would help the zoning bug, but I didnt want to get anyones hopes up so I didnt say that specifically in the changelog :P It might not be 100% fixed, but its definately an improvement.
