When Sony starts a fully instanced raid target, solo or 1 groupable with mercenaries, then I'll get excited.

Well, it''ll be a "hit and miss", whether that server will succeed. They've done
this before, but simply changed a few details for this one.

I wonder why they keep making these types of servers. It isn't even a challenge. Below is the timeline from Sleeper.

Original Planes unlocked 2006/07/09
Kunark unlocked 2006/07/12
Velious unlocked 2006/09/08 (I'm surprised Magician epic wasn't the last one)
Luclin unlocked 2006/10/15 (All of NToV was dead by 2006/09/10)
PoP unlocked 2006/11/18
LDoN (skipped, doesn't impact progression)
GoD unlocked 2007/01/31 (Some PoP bosses were already dead on 2006/11/19)

Progression over.

I'm sure this new one will have a similar timeline. Now, perhaps I'm not familiar with an aspect of progression servers, but I believe they are built such that once someone unlocks an expansion, everyone can advance. My preference would be that the prerequisite encounters give flags, and only flagged people can move forward.

It's already a hardcore server concept to begin with, so, for me, that would be a good approach that wouldn't ruffle too many feathers.

Won't be as quick on progression this time around. For example let's say inny/cazic die on the same day 1 month after the server opens your then looking at 3 months from that day before the vote comes up for the server to progress to kunark or not and even then a majority of players have to vote to open up kunark.

How will progression work on Fippy Darkpaw?

•As with the previous progression servers, players will need to defeat certain challenges to unlock newer expansions. Once these challenges have been defeated there will be a grace period where the server will stay in the current expansion. After the grace period, players will be able to vote through an in game poll to unlock the next expansion. The voting period will be one week.

Initially the grace period will be 90 days before voting will start for Kunark, then 60 days for each expansion after that. At some point we will even have a vote to see if players wish to change that grace period.

If the majority of players vote to unlock the next expansion, the next expansion will unlock at the end of the poll. If the majority of players voted to stay with the current expansion, then there will be a one week grace period before another poll will be posted. This will happen until a majority players vote to unlock the next expansion.
