No WTR files with old zone maps

I have a question about the WTR files in the server maps directory. I am trying to set up my server to use the old versions of the arena, nek, and lavastorm zones, and I found some map files on sourceforge dated 2004 that I think ought to work. However, that source doesn't have any WTR files. Only the maps. Do I need WTR files with the old versions of the zones? How will that affect NPC movement?
