"A connection to the server cannot be reached..."

Finally I have it all done, I launch the game and I see the EQ splash screen for 'darkhollow' login. I put in my freshly made username and password and I get "A connection to the server cannot be made, etc" and then proceeds to tell me to make sure I'm online. I am online, connected to the internet when doing this so I'm really not sure what the problem could be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
