Default how do I host my server and let ppl connect to it?

When I first started up my server (2 months cause of errors) Ive been having fun playing on it and my brother joins too on the downstairs computer. But I want other people to join it so I can have more fun (its non-legit gonna be fun) but problem is no one can connect they all say that there getting error 1017 which means in my LoginServer.ini has a local IP number in it so only I can loggin but no one else can, but when I type in my external IP address I get error 1017 so what should I type in, in that spot to make it work?

That is likely not the problem. Are you sure your friends have not updated their everquest since august 26? That would almost definetly be the problem.

im running version 4.4 and it is correct cause I can connect to anyone elses server like scorpius 2k, wintersroar, and others. Just fine I have a character on them too and I log in just fine, but when I make my own then the problems arrise. I have a liksys wireless-b (router) one goes to my computer upstairs and one downstairs it gives me my ip which is local almost its 192.168.1.xxx. How do I let me and my friend join (he has correct version too went over to his house and checked it out... its fine) we both have broadband.

That's mentioned in the how to host a server guide. Look around a little bit, don't expect people to do your digging for you. It's there.

Wireless internet workes like router right? If so you have to make sure you have port forwarding setup..

ok I did the forwarding i put 7995-8101 open and then ip 192.168.1.1 and clicked enable and that made little 00 00 00 00 00 things appear on world.exe which helps i guess but ppl still get error 1017, yes wireless is routers. If I unplug my router and just go straight into the computer ill be without a doubt that will make it work but my father does not want me running it on his computer only my own upstairs... so im stuck with the router. Please someone at least post how to setup a router server. :(

### --- This file tells world.exe what loginserver to connect to.
### --- Leave the account and password field BLANK.

### --- Public Login is un-supported as is LAN playing. We reccomend using the EQEmu.net Loginserver ALWAYS.

### --- NOTE: Starting 6-1-2002, you can no longer use the word "Server" in worldname.
### --- NOTE2: the word "Server" is added to each server automaticly.

external IP doesnt work in boot5zones on the end of the number either. it just gives me error 10060 or 10061 cant remember.

btw should i do 127.0.0.1 or is that still only I can connect?
