open zone 8.6 doesnt seem to save

I hope i'm not in the wrong for starting this thread, but I wasn't sure where to put this.

When I save a scene in open zone 8.6 and then exit, and then load it, it just loads a blank wire frame. even tried saving the tutorial scene under a different name. same thing. So, I downloaded 8.5 and it seems to work fine so far scenes save and load with no apparent problems.

I tried loading the .xwa in zone explorer 1.2 and it just hangs.
downloaded 1.1 and 1.0. when i load them up in either of these, nothing happens at all. its probably something simple that i didn't do, but thats what I've found so far.
