Default Unix, cron jobs... confusing...

Unix.... cron jobs.... how is it all done?

I have a webhost with CRON jobs, and unmetered bandwidth and PLENTY of space, and was wondering...

Someone mentioned that the only way to make a server work on CRON JOBS is to make a unix server....

Can someone show me how to compile one or at least how to get started. Or, if someone wants to compile one for me ill host it on my webpage for everyone to download, and run a server on it.
