Creating strictly classic with classic D&D mechanics. Looking for idea people.
Over the past month or so, I've been tweaking code and changing mechanics on a server to try to implement a more standard D&D feel. I'm looking for some coders and/or idea people.
I am a bioinformaticist by trade, so I know a lot about databases and a little about coding.
Some changes:
A random component on spell effects (DD, heal, DoT, HoT, Mana convert) that increases in variance with intelligence.
Minimum level of same effects scales on wisdom.
Changed the way channeling works, you can move in a radius that scales with skill level.
Added block functionality on shields.
Reconstructed constructed Cazic Thule, Najena, Qeynos, Freeport to classic by analaysis of spawngroup gaps in numbering.
Cleaned out tens of thousands of orphan entries in the database.
Fixed database table naming scheme to be more consistent, and not require duplicate entries.
Currently looking for some more ideas to really make some drastic changes to conform to "Classic D&D" mechanics, like redoing AC, splitting it into avoidance and mitigation based on armor type.
