Default Class help please

Hello all,

A mate and myself will be starting on the Darktides server asap and we will generally duo together for the most part. Could you guys give me your advice about a complementary melee class to go with a cleric?

My first thought was of course warrior but then I remembered that warriors tend not to do much damage and we could be fighting a mob for awhile before it dies.

Do you think warrior is the best in a 2 man team?

PS. Although we will be duo'ing for the most part we will definately help anyone looking for a group.

Thanks

bfj

I'd say they are all good, but If I had a cleric for support and had to choose, it would be an Ogre ShadowKnight, and give all the starting points I could to Dex , so I'd get better procs off weapons.

Good idea

Its been 3 years since I played EQ on Live, you forget alot of things..

Any idea if Darktides has its own site/forum anywhere?

I'm hoping we dont have to duo all the time but I just know there will be times when we cant find anyone to join or invite.

It's been years since I've played as well, but how would a monk/cleric combo be? I think if you're just duo'ing, your best bet would be two caster classes instead.. like a druid/mage or something. Then you have the tank pet, nukes, and dots, and you still have some heals if needed.

What I liked about Everquest was the number of possibilities. There's always an advantage and disadvantage to any choice. Also consider that some equipment items can compensate for class restrictions through effects and procs.

I've found the following combos good. Some are better than others dishing out damage.

shaman/necro
druid/necro
wizard/enchanter
warrior/cleric
SK/cleric

Any class can do more damage than a warrior. SKs are nice because they make decent tanks and have great utility spells like darkness(snare) and feign death.

Basically any 2 classes can work pretty well together as long as one can heal somehow. Consider if you will want to kill creatures that summon. If so be sure you have someone or something that can tank because casters are somewhat frail.

Keep in mind that with a mage you get nearly the nuking ability of a wizard _and_ pets, the earth pet has considerable hp for tanking though not as good as a plate melee class player.

Enchanters can dire charm creatures up to level 45 which may lack hp but can do great damage. Hasted with weapons they are scarey. Necros can DC undead and druids can DC animals.

I don't know if they changed it after I left but some DCable level 45 creatures in gates of discord did outlandish melee damage. Where a typical level 45 creature might do 144 per hit these 'special' creatures would hit for over 300. They looked ordinary, you just had to let them hit you first to see if it was one of the tough ones :(

Sorry I rambled...

The warrior/cleric combo is good although you'll have a rough time with anything that heals. Most of the time you'll just have a long fight until the mob runs out of mana. Real dangerous if you get multiple mobs on you with a healer(s).

I think duoing a chanter/necro would definately tear some sh*t up.
