Default EQ Server., Can these ideas be done? (PvP Ideas)

Hello all, not sure if this is the right forum for these questions. I'm in the process of writing an outline for a server a friend & I might begin to try to put out. I was wondering if the following ideas might be doable, and if they would require changes to the actual server code. The one problem is that I nor my friend are programmers. If these features can be done, but do require code modification or adding, then I may have to try and get a programmer to join the staff.

Here is my idea. I wish to run a server that is ALL Zone PK for ALL players Level 10+. The catch would be certain zones will be considered under control of the nearest city. Any Pk'ing in those zones would set the player who initiated the PK a criminal to guards and merchants of that specific city for a set amount of time. I will list the features I'm envisioning now.

1. All zones allow PK for all players level 10+

2. PK'ing in a Red Zone automatically puts a Pk'er at a criminal faction to the local towns gaurds and merchants for a set amount of time.

NOTE: A Red Zone is basically a zone or two close to a starting city. On my printout of the Antonica Map for example The City Qeynos owns Qeynos North/South, Qeynos Hills, West Karana. Any Pk'ing started (Initiated) in those zones would place that player as a criminal for a set amount of time per PK attempt. Success or Fail! (The victim of the PK whether he successfully defends himself, or herself would NOT be set as a criminal since they are defending themselves. Only the Initiator to the PK win or lose would be flagged)

Another Red Zone would be East Commonlands, Northern Desert of Ro as they are owned and under the protection of the Freeport Guards. So if a player PK's in those zones they are marked a criminal to the Freeport Guards and merchants, but if this same Pk'er went to Qeynos while a criminal to Freeport, Qeynos would NOT recognize that player as a PK'er, unless the player PK's in the Qeynos owned Red Zones.

3. A PK'ed player would lose a certain amount of his coin. (Ex: Maybe 35% of money on his corpse) and one randomly chosen item NOT equiped. (This would make banking more important.) The item and money would be left on the player corpse. The player can retrieve that loot if he gets back to his corpse first and the PK'er or any other wandering player doesn't loot the corpse first.

4. Just thought of this one. If a player doesn't PK, BUT loots 3 player corpses who were PK'ed by anyone else within a set amount of time (Ex: 1 day Real Time) they are set as a criminals to that red zones guards and merchants in the various red zones owned by that local city.

5. A Pk'ed player would not lose experience.

6. Players would be able to be rooted by casters, but there would also be the following items (if possible) for non casters to even the playing field a bit. Throwing knives, daggers, arrows, bolts and what ever other type of missile weapons are possible in EQ. These items would be costly and somewhat harder to get. The items would be special because they will be able to paralyze for a set amount of time similar to a root spell. So warriors or rangers could shoot a mage with a paralazation arrow and get the same effect as being rooted themselves from casters. Of course there should be a % chance of success that the paralyzation hits. The missile might hit doing damage but the target can possibly resist the paralyzation. Perhaps the same stat that determines the chance of a spell affecting a player could also be used to determine if the paralyzation successfully affects the victim or not. I know I've had spells cast on me and my resistance level successfully ignored the spell making it fail.

7. Perhaps if 6 is possible it might be possible for a VERY Extremely rare item that makes the wearer imune to paralyzing missile weapons and root spells. Possibly a lesser more common item would reduce the chance of the paralyze or root from being successful and if successful, might make the spell or effect wear off in half the time as the spell or effect would last to a plaeyr without the proper protective item.

8. All zones not listed as a Red Zone would be a Free for all. All of the above would be possible minus the fact that there will be no criminal flag set as the areas are too far from any form of organized civilizations.

Hmmm I think thats it for now. I know this is a long post and I'm sorry for that. Also, if these type of features require programming and you are a coder who has done some work with EQEmu and wish to join our team and help make this server a reality please PM me.

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,
John

These ideas need quite a bit of coding to accomplish it. It'd be a combination of database and code changes to create the environment you're talking about.
