Default What commands?

I spent some time setting up an EQ server by following a guide that was very well done on this site. I got a few errors, but searched for them and found fixes and ways around them. (even the crashing while logging in. My refresh rate is 60 and it crashes when i go Full screen)

But that is a separate topic.

I have quite a few friends in my area who will play once the server is up, but i am really new to using MYSQL, and i'm not sure how to enter commands in correctly. I saw the guide for commands, but searching proved that some are out of date. Also i have no idea how to create myself as a GM.

Oh, and when i attempted to raise the XP earned i thought i had done it correctly, but after making the changes with what i thought was the right way, the XP rate did not change at all.

I apologize for being so unintelligent with this, but i didn't seem to find the answer to these questions by searching. (i found other XP changing answers, but i believe that was based on lowering the XP earned, and i wanted to raise it.)

After you made your changes, did you RESTART your Server?

Download the MySQL GUI tools. They are free and you can make the changes in the GUI instead of the command line. It may help, it may not.

I did restart the server after i typed in the commands, but when the server was started the server again i noticed no change. I'm pretty sure i'm not doing it correctly.

Also, if you or anyone wanted to PM me about the subject i would greatly appreciate that as well.

With the GUI tool, i'm unsure of what to put "Source Connection Parameter" and "Target Connection parameter"

You don't need to enter a source connection... that's if you have multiple servers you log in to...

It's better to answer questions here IMHO, so if others have input or the same type of problem, they can join in.

If your server is the machine you are running the GUI on, then all you need is

Localhost 3306
loginname
password
yourdbname

and your set.

And for the XP, are you changing the Variable or using the Rules System?

To set yourself as a GM, open your accounts table and set the "status" field to 250. Then, completely exit out of EQ and go back in. You may even need to restart your server for it to take effect. Then in game, you just target yourself and type #gm on.

You can also use Navicat Lite to edit your database directly. It makes changing things pretty simple.

I would highly recommend trying GeorgeS' tools listed in the dev>tools sections. You can find a link to his website in his signature and he has a ton of nice tools there that all work with the current EQEmu releases. And if you ever want to do spell editing, I recommend the bleh/ailia spell editor in that same section.

If you have the rule enabled for setting experience (which I think is default now), you have to change it there (rules_values) for it to take effect. If you don't have the rule enabled, I think you can change it from the Variables Table, but that might not work at all anymore. You can see which rules you have enabled by starting your world server and watch the information it shows. It will say when it is loading the rules and list all rules that are loaded. If it doesn't list any, then none are enabled. To enable them, you just have to assign them a number that matches the number set in the rules table.
