Default Stop IP logging on MiniLogin? 6.2

I would really like to turn off the IP checking feature of the latest minilogon.

I am sure there must be a switch or something for it..

Thank you in advance gents.

There has to be a check of some kind or everyone would run from the same account , I would prefer a password check myself to an IP check , Especially bothersome to those whos IP changes often.

minilogon doesnt check the password?

Thats nuts.. So they put in IP checking code... but not pass checking code..

Hmm I must not see the whole picture here. bleah.. going to have to write a login server from scratch I can see it already.. heh

I am pretty sure the IP versus Password is a legality thing. If you do make your own LoginServer, just be careful where you post links to it.

hmmm... doesnt make sense that it would be illegal to write a login script but certainly possible. that would explain why they arent password checking.

Thank you for the heads up.

they use ip checking because the crypto is not avil for release.. if you can crack it yourself and make a login server more power to you. do not expect any help from here on it.

I kind of understand the logic behind it. I guess there would be lots of account farming possible if they did the PW thing. I'll address the login server issue priveately and see what I can do.

Thanks kindly.

EDIT:

I think I understand now. Because players have to use the EQClient a login server would have to decode SoEs encryption and thus we have the potential legal issues again. I think I get it.

I'll work on a workaround to the login. Thanks again.

Default what I hate

What I hate is that on my server for some reason when I log in it logs both computers on the same account, which then causes a crash and makes trying to twobox on my own server a HUGE problem ....

if one can figure out how to have the system work via login names and passwords that would be GREAT!!!

You could always drop in a second NIC in your machine and config it with a second ip......
just a thought.

I tried this, it always thinks that you are logging in from 127.0.0.1 no matter how many IP's you give yourself.
ie. I gave my nic 192.168.0.51 and 192.168.0.52 and I added the respective accounts to the db, but it would still just log me into the account from 127.0.0.1, if I removed the 127.0.0.1 account it would not work at all.

What is the address your using for your Minilogin and your World Server?

127.0.0.1 ? if so you might try switching to your IP such at 192.168.0.1 for your minilogin and world.... not sure if it'll work but its worth a try
