Greetings..

I have just got a new pc with windows 64bit,i have upgraded from windows xp pro.

I have been running the game okay with windows xp pro but now i have installed the eq1 titatium client on my new pc i am having problems.


Everytime i try to change and save the script from

[LoginServer]
Host=eqlplogin1.everquest.com:15900

to

Host=eqemulator.net:5998

It keeps saying ACCESS DENIED?

Is this something to do with admin rights because i never had a problem with xp pro and it might be because i have not got admin rights as this is a new pc.

Help please.

It is UAC that is causing the problem. The easiest work around it is to copy the file to your desktop, make the desired changes then copy it back to its original location.

Copy which file? can you give me a step by step guild, i really am not that pc savy.

In Vista or Windows 7 it is usually a bad idea to have things under the Program Files (or other restricted access) folder, especially things that are old and haven't been updated to work properly with the new restrictions placed on applications there.

Move the folder somewhere else, like C:\eqclients or whatever and you'll be much happier.

Sorry to appear thick but can you give me a step by step on moving the folder.

I just got this pc today and don't want to do anything wrong.


And what does UAC stand for please.

UAC stands for User Access Control. If a big pain in the butt. you can turn it off in the control panel under users or users accounts.

Okay well any chance you can tell me how to actually do it. I have looked in the account section but i cant see anything that mentions User Access Control.

Okay i have found it and changed the file, thanks.

The next problem i am having is changing the shortcut target.

I right click on EQ1 shortcut and select Properties then i replace this line

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest\EverQuest.exe"

with this line

"C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme

and i get the message box flash up saying

The name 'C:\ProgramFiles\Everquest\eqgame.exe' Specified in the Target box is not Valid

Make sure the path and file name are correct?

I had not problem using the same method with windows xp pro
