 IBM 16.8 Gig 7200 RPM
Western Digital 80 Gig 7200 RPM
 Asus v8200 Deluxe GF3 64 MB (w/ 3D glasses, ooo!)
 Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
 19" Optiquest Q95

 P3 700 MHZ
 256 MB SDRAM
 IBM 20 Gig 7200 RPM
 Crap Video and Sound
 15" ViewSonic

 Celeron 500 MHZ
 128 MB SDRAM
Western Digital 3 Gig 5400 RPM
 Crap Video and Sound
 15" Viewsonic

 P2 400 MHZ
 256 MB SDRAM
Western Digital 40 GIG 7200 RPM
 Crystal Sound (Don't ask...)
 3D Prophet GTS Pro 2 64 MB

All work great on EverQuest (original version, no luclin models). Although they have little ram so they suck for servers.

 Here's my specs:
P4 2GHz (I looked at AMD, know a lot of people with AMD, but they just run too hot for my liking)

 Winfast GeForce 4 TI4600

 512MB Crucial DDR RAM

 Epox RAID motherboard

95GB combined HDD (adding 120GB of RAID 0 soon)

 Acer 16x12x24 CD-RW

Iiyama 17" Vision Master Pro 413 flat CRT monitor

Various fans, blanking plates, screws and other assorted PC paraphernalia :p

ntl 512/128 cable (England, we put the 'urgh' in broadband)

Shawn, I hope you realize that flat-panel LCD screens are absolutely HORRIBLE for 3D gaming. Make sure you've got a spare CRT lying around or you'll be sorry :PAs for gateway... *shudder*... I absolutely despise them, they build shitty as hell systems that flip out if you try and do anything with em.

 As for my specs:
1.1ghz AMD Athlon Thunderbird (Pentium's are shit nowadays btw)
 512 Megs DDR-SDRAM PC2100 266Mhz
 Soyo K7V-Dragon+ Mobo (KT266A)
 Creative 5x DVD-ROM
 TDK 24x10x40 CD-RW w\BURN-Proof Technology
 Dual 40gig Maxtor 7200RPM ATA66 and ATA100 Hard Drives
KDS Avitron 19inch Trinitron (aka flat, and crystal clear) CRT Monitor
Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro & Intellimouse Optical Explorer (an older model... the newer models are uncomfortable as hell).
5.1 Digital Sound (integrated with mobo) with EAX1 support
Cambridge SoundWorks 4 speakers+SubWoofer (their digital model)
Magical Fairy Midget that Lives in my Pantaloons (just seeing if you were paying attention).
 WindowsXP Pro

As for my gateway (INTERNET gateway, not gateway brand btw) PC:
 1.4ghz AMD Athlon Thunderbird
 256megs SDRAM
 Asus A7V Mobo
 Maxtor 40gig 7200RPM ATA100 HD
 56x Acer CD-ROM
 KDS Visual Sensations 17inch monitor
 Windows XP Pro
 256megs SDRAM

Built them myself, as I have all previous systems i've had.
Store bought pre-build systems are the DEVIL!

EDIT: The "too hot for my liking comment" is bullshit. You guys just don't understand AMDs. I mean their newest AMD XP 2000+ is about 1.5GHZ and it runs faster than a pentium2 1900-2000! The infamous "heat problem" with palamino's as observed in the THG video is the result of shitty mobos. Now you can get mobos that actually detect a change like that and will shut down to avoid damage to the processor. And btw, the chances of your heatsink falling off the processor are slim to nill unless you're a dimshit and didn't install it correctly.

 Athlon XP 1800+ Creative GeForce 3 TI200
 Creative Audigy soundcard
 512MB DDR RAM
 MSI mobo
 2x40 gb IBM 7200 HDD
 Sony 21" GDM-F520 monitor
 Telewest 512/128 cable
 Windows XP Pro

Both EQ and the Emu run fine and lag free with Luclin models off. I had the models on for a bit but the loading times shot up and the framerate went the other way.

Flat panels aren't horrible for 3D gaming if you choose a good one. I use a 17" flat panel screen that is perfectly clear and never blurs.
And as for the Pentium vs. Athlon debate.. it's always going to be a matter of personal preference. I'd personally never touch an AMD product (too many bad experiences have soured the company and their products for me). However, some other people feel that same way about Intel. So let the argument die, please.

 BTW, my system specs:

 my main computer (notebook):
 P4 1.6
 512 MB ram
 30 GB hard drive
 ATI Radeon
 15" XGA screen
 DVD/CDRW combo drive
 Linksys wireless network PC card
 WinXP Pro

 desktop:
 P4 1.6
 512 MB DDR2100
 80 GB hard drive
 64 MB Geforce 2
 17" flat panel
 DVD
 CDRW
 WinXP Pro

Both are connected to my DSL modem through a Linksys router with a wireless access point (so I can use the laptop anywhere)

 servers:

 P3 550
 512 MB Ram
 50 GB hard drive
 Redhat 7.2

 Sun Ultra 2
 dual 400 mhz Ultrasparc processors
 512 MB ram
 20 GM hard drive
 Solaris 8

The servers are currently on a network in a small office connected to my airplane hangar. The run on a business SDSL line.

EQemu runs perfectly. I run the server on the P3 at the hangar and the client on either home system. MySQL runs on the Ultra 2.

 256 Mb SRIMM
 GForce2 MX400 64Mb
 Win98 OS

The client and the server run on the same machine.
Works great both, Everquest with Luclin models.

btw this is my first post to the forum guys, so hi all and grats!, you all are making a great work.

 Specs:
 AMD Athlon 600mhz
 512mb pc133 ram
 30 gig HD
 GeForce2 MX500 32mb
 Sound Blaster Live Platinum

running a 100 base T lan connected to DSL through a Cisco router..

<EDIT> oh, and a 17" FPD that works absolutley *GREAT* for 3d gaming. If you don't believe me, i can show ya screenshots .. and it's made by gateway, too.. one of the best flat panels i've used..<END EDIT>

The server runs well with 5 zoneservers running, and the only time i have encountered lag is when i cast Innoruuk's Wrath in hateplane about 100 times in a row. Seems to work well running on a LAN as well, with 2 people connected. Going to test out how the server runs with 8 people playing on a 100 base T network this weekend!

I completely agree with t3mp14rX. Not a chance in hell that your processor fan will fall off to the degree that they depicted in that AVI. The new Athlon XP models offer lower power consumption (Less heat buildup) and do have some form of thermal protection. Supposedly the one in the AVI failed and hence the CPU failed to shutdown.
Only bad thing I did to a poor unfortunate AMD chip was I crushed the die while putting on a heavy duty fan and heatsink (Thermoengine, you know, the ones that are like a cheese grater on the bottom and have parafin wax through the centre to aid with cooling...).

What people fail to realise is that now that AMD and Intel have stopped producing CPUs based on the same architecture, CPU speed does not give a fair comparison. AMD proved this with their Ahlon XP model. The XP 1800+ runs at 1.53GHz yet performs at, if not above the level of a Pentium 4 1.8Ghz.

However, those that are Intel fans, keep your eyes on the new Pentium III Tualatin as it performs great, and the updated Pentium 4 Core (Northwood) drastically improves their performance.

Multi Processors = Go Intel! (AMD MP's suck donkey's balls)
 Single Processors = Go AMD!
