Default EQ Offline - Single player... Possible?

Title pretty much says it all...... Was curious if it was at all possible to play EQ single player offline....without servers once so ever.... sure the areas would be empty but I was just curious...

You could edit the tutorial program that comes with the original game (I don' t know if it comes with the current version) to load your own zone. You would have to be named Soandso, you could only walk, and the NPCs would be all the NPCs from the tutorial.

It would be less work and better just to set up or play on an EQEmu server.

Yes you could definately make a single player version of EQ
and as long as you had a stable platform built up , if you had
the time and the will you could make it just how you wanted it. You should go for it man ! the only problem you'll have is getting a correctly patched version of EQ (pre 5/11) if you're not sure what version you have or what to do , search the forums for EQ version check. And you should be good to go with some of the great new tutorials out !

Default First things First!

Greetings,

First things first, you have to know what version of everquest you have before you go randomly trying tutorials out . This will just save you weeding through errors that are caused to a weird patch issue. So what I recommend is to search the forums for a program called EQ version check, run it as per the i nstructions it has w/ it, and it will tell you which version of the EMU to use w/ your version.. At that point, you need to just search in the tutorials forums, for setting up a server w/ the version the version check told you to use !
Also , bad news, if you've j ust recently played live EQ .. you probably don't have a playable version and will just have to wait for a further release that works with your version of everquest.. What i suggest doing now is at least backing up your current eq directory for future use w/ the emulator !! good luck and any more questions i'll try to help.. except that i'm very new as well .

kindest regards,

Didn't know EQ was around for tens years to my knowledge its only been around for 7 or 8 years I played EQ after kunark first came out back in 1999 or 2000 don't remember the year exactly.

So i'd say this guy is Full of S&%$ in my opinion.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and thinking he means he formats his drive every 3 months for the last ten years... obviosly before EQ was an issue and he just worded it in a way to make it seem he was saying that he has been playing eqemu for 10 years.

eq was released in 1999.. so it was not out for 10 years.
