To set yourself as a GM, open your accounts table and set the "status" field to 250. Then, completely exit out of EQ and go back in. You may even need to restart your server for it to take effect. Then in game, you just target yourself and type #gm on.

You can also use Navicat Lite to edit your database directly. It makes changing things pretty simple.

I would highly recommend trying GeorgeS' tools listed in the dev>tools sections. You can find a link to his website in his signature and he has a ton of nice tools there that all work with the current EQEmu releases. And if you ever want to do spell editing, I recommend the bleh/ailia spell editor in that same section.

If you have the rule enabled for setting experience (which I think is default now), you have to change it there (rules_values) for it to take effect. If you don't have the rule enabled, I think you can change it from the Variables Table, but that might not work at all anymore. You can see which rules you have enabled by starting your world server and watch the information it shows. It will say when it is loading the rules and list all rules that are loaded. If it doesn't list any, then none are enabled. To enable them, you just have to assign them a number that matches the number set in the rules table.
