Was thinking about it a bit, and I bet your issue is DHCP. Certain ISPs use quick timers for DHCP IP address renewals (leases). Some DHCP leases are as short as 1 hour to 8 hours and some are very long. Mine, for example, doesn't get released more than 1 time per month or so.
So, you might want to check the IP of your router and see if it is changing frequently. I had an issue with it when I was running DD-WRT on my Linksys router. The IOS was really nice, but I had to revert back to manufacturer software due to this weird DHCP issue that DD-WRT was causing. It would release my IP and renew it, but would cause my whole internet to go out. You probably don't have that exact same issue, but I wouldn't be surprised if your issue was possibly with DHCP. At least if your server is working some of the time and then getting that error after a while. Power cycling your router should restore connectivity. If it does, then you might need to look at your router config. It could even be your DHCP settings for your LAN.
