Default trouble with windows vista

I THINK the game actually loaded (amazing with vista) now the problem is that I cannot change the eqhost file. It simply states I cannot create it.

I cant be the only one with vista having issues. any help would be appreciated.

Hey Trau

You shouldnt need to "create" the file. If you did a default titanium install the file will be in your c:\program files\sony\everquest folder. It's just a text file you should be able to open it right up and make the edit.

Post your error?

If you are using 64 bit vista like I am, the default installation went here
c:\progam files(x86)\sony\everquest

The problem you might be having is it telling you that you don't have privileges to edit that file. Right click the file in that directory and choose "Run as Administrator".

Or, you may not be able to find the file because you don't have file extensions displayed. So it might be called simply "eqhost" instead of "eqhost.txt". Try looking for it in the directory that Laxa mentioned.

the problem is that it wont let me save the changes it says to make sure the file name and path are correct.

Ive gone into the program files and found it without a problem, also it wont let me "run as administrator" when I right click the file.

PS I hate vista

I would try opening the eqhost file, making the changes, then saving it to your desktop.
Then cut/paste it into your EQ directory, overwriting the old one.

If that does work try turning off UAC (this will make your system less secure but will likely get rid of half the junk you don't like about Vista)

Vista seems to be more protective of the program files directory then previous versions of Windows.

Right click on the file, click on properties, then click on unblock, then apply. Also make sure atrtributes are not read only, and properties are read/write

Also Right click, properties, select security and make sure you your account can read/write to the file.
