I see that on the most recent SVN builds, the spell effect spam is gone even from Linux. If possible, I think it would be awesome if we could add it back in, but make a new rule to allow it to be turned on or off easily.

I am unsure where this check would come in, since the spell effect spam check is done so many times in the spell_effects.cpp file. Does anyone know where this rule check would go in? Maybe in defining SPELL_EFFECT_SPAM?

Code:
if(RuleB(Spells, EnableSpellEffectSpam)){
Once that part is figured out, the only other thing would be to add the actual rule in like this:

ruletypes.h - Add this line to the Spells Category:
Code:
RULE_BOOL (Spells, EnableSpellEffectSpam, false) //Enable or Disable spell effect text spam
Then the optional SQL would be this:
Code:
Insert into rule_values values (0, 'Spells:EnableSpellEffectSpam', false);
