Default No Sound

Hello,

When I run EQ on a new ASUS motherboard with Realtek audio, I get no sounds at all. I have done a alt-o and checked that my sound option in EQ are correct and I have also checked the my system sound parameters.

I did a search of the forums and I only found a vague reference about EQ does not run on new audio systems. Is there anyway to fix this?

As a work around, I find that sound works fine when I have a USB headphone plugged it.

Does your sound card work for other sounds? Maybe you don't have the correct drivers installed or something. And, what the heck are USB headphones? That just sounds weird.

Try going to your sound options and ensuring your speakers are configured correctly.

On my Vista machine, I couldn't hear sound from certain items. I had to go to the sound properties and set up all aspects of "Speakers". I have logitech speakers with no center channel and it has a subwoofer, but it is not an individual speaker. So I don't really have a 4.1 system but I had to either select "Stereo" or pick 4.1 and disable the center channel and subwoofer.

Also, for a different program, I enabled Sound Mixer which is supposed to be another Realtek problem.

joligario,

That was a good idea on checking how the speakers were set up. Regrettably, my speakers are set up as stereo, so this is not my problems.

What sound options does the eq options editor give you? And which one do you have selected? Vista's DirectSound can be quite tricky.
