This happened to me as well, very annoying since I was in a hurry, but I waited 10 minutes and tried again and it worked fine.

Bumping a year old post.

I killed a mob, went to loot and the client crashed. I try to get back in and get the error that an Unknown error had occurred while connecting to the server. I'm able to get to the server list, but I get that error when I try to connect to any of the servers. I've let it sit for 15 minutes also thinking it was a timing issue.

What was the fix for this if any?

Never mind

I went into Control Panel, add/remove programs, found Everquest Titanium, hit change remove. Then did a repair on it. It asked for each disk which took a whole ten seconds per disk, went back changed the eqhost.ini file and I was back up and running again.

It's all good.
