Default heard it before - crashing after server select

There are a couple posts about this in the forums, but i am still having some trouble. Basically After selecting a server I will get a black screen followed shortly by a crash. I've tried just about every resolution/compatibility combo that i can. I remember having a similar problem on another laptop (a much nicer one than the one im using now.. this ones ancient), and that i somehow got it to work, but I can't remember how. Any help would be appreciated. Just start throwing suggestions and I will start trying them. Btw, this is not a dual core. its a 650mhz p3 LOL.

thanks ahead of time!

I'v experienced this problem in 2 cases so far.
1. One of my DB table was corrupted (had to restore it from backup).
2. I had IP filter turned on for the GM accounts and forgot to set the correct IP address in the DB to allow logon access.
