Is it normal to receive a flood of warnings about deprecated functions?

VS 2010 C++ Express using pre-packed perl/zlib/sql libs and includes on a freshly imaged Win Srv. 2008 R2 machine.

It would seem that a good 70-80% of the compile log states either "Possible Loss of Data" or "(Performance Loss)".
