sounds like directx is missing or has something to do with the video card
you didn't tell us what server you was playing on i can understand if its a private server. always welcome to goto f2p test server it gives you gold status
if he does install the f2p clinet it will fix any directx problem he'll be forced to install it directx i hope that solves the problems
