ok, in reply to your questions, will eqemu work if u dont have Pop, SOL, etc? Yes it will if you have updated to the latest version of eqlive (with the SOL and POP zone files, etc) if your eq is up to date and you have downloaded the expansions you can use it. eqemu dosent check if you have tyhem installed. but for you to go #zone nexus, you must have the nexus files, etc... (sorry its late here)
and as for running eqemu with the latest version of the EQ client, no it wont work unforntuantly, due to changes in the networking side of things and other things such as the bank, the Map system etc... you cannot play the latest version of EQ with the EQemu, currently the latest you can play with is PoP. if you try to do it, it is unlikly you will get past the login, dont know for sure, never tried.
