Backup possibilities?

Hello all, im very new to all of this EQEmu stuff..just found it yesterday. Which means I am fully patched on EQLive including some of the predownloads for LDoN.

If I can find a friend that hasnt patched since Dec 2002 and copy his EQ Folder onto my computer, can i use that?

Thanks for the help, and I apologize for my newbocity, and if this has already been asked multiple times.
