Default 1002???

I tryed to log on and now instead of getting to sever screen and getting a 1017 error there I get a 1002 error saying that I do not have the current version of some nonsence like that. What does it take to be able to play this silly game??????

Did you follow the instructions on the news page to change the port of the login server so you can connect with the latest version?

At the risk of sounding like a noob, how exactly would one do that. The news post was a little vague.

In your backup copy of the EverQuest directory, there is a .txt file called DataRate, open it and should have 5.0 (default) change that to 8.0 and you should be able to log in. Hope it helps

Well, I couldn't find a txt file name datarate, but I did creat one, and it worked. Now, if only all the 0.5.0 servers weren't locked, then I would be getting somewhere...

Thanks

Default Understood

Glad to hear I could help out, but from the time I've spent on the 5.0 servers, there's nothing much to do there....#level and #zone do not work, you start off with 1 yellow of xp and no matter how much you kill nothing gained. It could just be me but I'm not thinking so. If you are able to get on one and do somethin' there, let me know
