Crashing
It doesn't matter what server I play on, it seems every time I zone, or sometimes for no reason at all, the game either crashes or I get disconnected. I have all the updated files, no sound, good video, what else could it be? I have sufficient ram as well, so thats out of the question. Any suggestions would be cool. Thanks

Talk to SOE support cause it's clearly a client issue not an EMU issue if it happens on all the emu servers.
If they won't help you the reinstall Direct X, your graphics drivers and Everquest. If it's still a problem reinstall your OS.

I have DSL, so the latter is out of the question. As for SOE, they are no help at all. Every time I contact them they give me a bogus solution that never works. If anyone else is having this problem and has fixed it in the past, please let me know. Thanks again

Actually, I'm not running any Anti-Virus or Firewall software at all. I'm running windows 98, so the built in firewall from XP is out of the question if thats what you were thinkin =)

pick up your computer, toss it in the air in front of you, and boot it.... works well
then get one built some minion level techy that knows what they're doing, then put xp pro on it, update it, install eq, update to live, change your hosts.txt and pray

Are you trying to say I don't know what I'm doing? And what would the windows version have to do with anything? EQ is compatible with 9X-XP Pro

sometimes i get this problem. i have a cable connection and it just cuts out on me. sometimes when you have too many programs using the internet at the same time your upload bandwidth gets totally used up.
you always need some upload bandwidth in order to download because the comps need to communicate. if you are using all your upload bandwidth your connection will slow down, cut out for about 30 sec. and then start again.
i generally get this while using kazaa lite or eMule in the background.
if you are having the same problem as me, then just close any programs that use the internet (typically file-sharing programs)
