Default 1017error w/minilogin and win xp

I am using windows xp and using minilogin, so that i may use eqemu locally. Everything is fine up to the server select screen.

when i get to the server select and choose my server.

I get a 1017 error: "cannot login to the everquest server. you may need to run the update patch. Repeatedly seeing this message indicates a loss of connectivity to the patch server. This is usually temporary."

Any Ideas?

Im having the same exact problem.

Running windows XP and trying to get past the server selection screen. Connecting Via the eqlogin.eqemu.net method doesnt work, or connecting via my LAN (which is working). I even disconnected from the router and restarted the network. IP addresses are set a automatic, and yes I changed the IP address on the client to find the server correctly. In each case I can get past the login screen, but I cant get past server select.

I have the firewall disabled already, and have verified all the settings in the login.ini file, host.txt etc.

The emulator does work if I run everything on the host computer, but nobody else can connect to my server.

Ive already tried opening the new database and verifying at the eqemu loging name and password are created and set to highest level of control, (ServerOP), and created a character.

Anyway if someone has a fix it would be great. Btw the only thing I could think might be screwing me up is I cant use eqw 2.21, it crashes for some reason. So I was starting the eqgame.exe patchme method from the command line to start the client.

Eqw 2.21 generally crashes when your desktop colour depth is set to 32-bit. Try setting this to 16-bit.

I also have noticed sometimes you will have to delete your eqw.ini file.

What does it do exactly after you choose a character? go blank, then kick you back to server select?

If this is the case, patch your Everquest to the latest version, and if needs be so as shawn said in another post, do a thorough file check.

Eqw 2.21 isnt doesnt work on my computer, It crashes and I then get an error "eqmain.dll". Ive tried lowering the resolution, and the color depth to 16 bit, etc. even redownloaded the app. It just doesnt work. So in order to run eqgame I use the command line and enter in eqgame.exe patchme. Which gets me past the login to the server selection screen where If I click on Play EverQuest I get a black screen, a pause and then booted back to server selection. The game is already patched to the most recent version of EverQuest, and the thorough file check finds no new files. I can play fine when I use the minilogin when everything is running on the same machine, I cant connect play anyother way, nor can anyone else log into my server.

Actually come to think of it, I may be posting this in the wrong thread, cause im really not having any problem pursae with the Minilog, Think its more of a problem with the ZoneNT.
