To play on other people's servers you don't need to download anything. See here:

http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14010

After step 3, start/run/cmd, cd to your eq directory and type eqgame patchme, or use eqw 2.41 and deselect the 'run patcher' option, then continue from step 4.

This is not a flame, but the guide by edgar is about as simple as it can get. Your best bet is to read it, try it out, rinse and repeat until it works.

You could try step 4 from this guide, http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9649 if you don't have EQW EQWindows, www.eqwindows.com

This will stop from you running the patcher and overwriting your eqhost.txt which you edit in step 3 of LE's guide to the new registration process.

Is this server emulation just for the original everquest or for the expansions as well? I don't know whether to install eq and expansions or just eq. Does it matter?

Most servers allow all expansions to be used. The ones that dont it still doesn't hurt to have them installed, you just won't be able to use them on that server because they want to restrict the number of zones and features they have to worry about using. You can download all the expansions you don't have with the EQ patcher also.

I already set up on the emulation server so I skip the eq patcher. How do I download the expansions now? I'm missing 3 of them.

You have to use the patcher to download new expansions. Just run the patcher and go to the advanced tab and check all the expansions you want to download. After it finishes downloading them then go back to the guide and go to the step that says cahnge eqhost.txt and do all that over again and you'll be able to play with all the expansions.

Thanks for the help so far. I now patched everything, but I can only get to the server selection screen. I pick a server and then click play, but it just crashes to the desktop. Any idea's of what is wrong now? I have the latest video card drivers (geforce fx 5600).
