Yeah, I got rid of the PoK books too. That was such a gimp idea. Totally took the sense of adventure out of travelling. I feel that they should have implemented "dynamic" npc spawns in more of the big travel zones. Like the Karanas. Would have been nice if they changed spawns every once in a while so the same route isn't always the safe route.
That's one thing I plan on doing as well.
