I've got the same problem as all yours, but with the diference that i have the directx 9.0 since december, i'll try to play but when i char i get booted always, I've asked what the problem was, and it is that we have patch to live but this problem will be solved very soon, read this:

Yes, you'll have to wait until the developers update the EQEMu software to work with this latest patch. Last time it only took them a couple days. Shouldn't be too long I think...
