By the above logic, suicide bombers in Iraq are heroes as well. Because they are going to war to fight for something they believe in and they're protecting their country from being taken over.
Let's not overuse the word "hero". People call firemen, policemen, etc. heroes all the time. They aren't heroes any more than I am. They're doing their job. I saved someone's life before while doing my job. Am I a hero? No. I just had more paperwork to do...
I'm not disrespecting, but the ease of use of the word "hero" repulses me.
