So, why do you use EQEmu?
Me, After seeing verant cut the balls off my necro I lost interest in EQLive, I resorted to "cheating", speed hacks, spells hacks etc.. at last my necro could solo like in the old days. BAM then one day you are banned.
Now I could have started another account, but I really didnt want to start all over again, plus it was clear that the classes I liked were useless, verant deeming a holy trinity of clerics/warriors and shamen. I forgot about EQ for over a year.
Then I stumble on this site, and quite frankly was amazed at the claims made in the readme. I dug out my EQ cd's and reinstalled, patched up and installed EQEmu. I've been playing this last week and am still amazed. There is a long way to go, but a long way has already been completed. Congrats must go to everyone involved from the coders to the DB builders and 3rd party tool makers.

If I could ever get this to work on my own it would be great. I have went on other people's servers and had a blast with a level 61 warrior with the best of the best pretty much. Only problem is I am constantly dissconnected or crashed to the desktop. I imagine it has to do with the server I was useing. Unfortuneately you can't get full control if your useing someone elses server. I have tried and tried can just can't get this to work for me.

Personally, I'm interested in EQEMu for several reasons...
1. Every once in a while I like to OBLITERATE EVERYTHING IN SITE!!! Just for madicinal purposes you understand
2. I want to be able to create my own world... new zones, new spawns, new quests, new items, etc... Right now this is very limited because I can't get my own servers to run properly, the EQEMu Admin tool has some serious limitations to it's overall functionality, my computer is an archaic and slow piece of crap, and I don't totally understand the in's and out's of database editing for use with EQEMu... But I'm a fast learner and very good at self-teaching, so I think I'll get the hang of it if I can ever get my computer to shape up .
3. I HATE VI!!! Nerf, nerf, nerf, nerf, nerf!!! They should making soft foam balls and stuff!
and lastly...
4. I have a hard enough time affording food for myself, let alone an extra $10/month (now $13/month) just to play a computer game which largely just pisses me off and increases my blood preassure.
I'm sure there are other reasons, but those are good for now

Some people say computer games affect kids;
I mean, if Pac-Man affected us as kids,
we'd all be running around darkend hallways,
munching on magic pills and listening to repepitive
electronic music....

Baron,
Take a look at this then...
http://uaf.sourceforge.net/
Dungeoncraft, guy from scratch is reproducing Unlimited Adventures, the D&D computer game construction kit.. I had a blast redoing a couple of old TSR modules (I loved Village of Homlet for some reason!)
Also, as a world builder, you ought to be excited about NeverWinter Nights.. Its made so that new worlds can be created quickly and easily. I was reading in an interview where they mentioned the only tools they used that you dont get with the game are StudioMax and Visual Studio...

Pre-Kunark:
There are 128 players in Lower Guk.
There are 146 players in Nagafen's Lair.

EQ EMU reason
Fantastic work!
If I ever hit the lotto, I'll send everyone workin on this some cash!
hehe
Seriously though, your project is GREATLY appreciated and NOT just for the playable aspects but the knowledge part also!
Reason for EQ Emu, Everquest is horible for those of us that don't have more than 2-3 hours to play, or don't have/know 30+ people to group with on a raid.
Lets me see things I NEVER got to see in 3 years of playing EQ!
I payed to play and see those things but the current code didn't allow for solo exploration with out massive deaths.
THANKS for working on this!
Mike

I agree Arcal,
My big problem in EQ live is that I am a solo player... I dont like grouping , Im not very social most of the time, I just want to do my own thing.. I'll get online with RL friends and have a great time and I dont mind getting in groups now and again, but as I general rule, I think it sucks to have to group for experience.. When you hit certain levels with some classes, you almost have no choice but to group if you want to get any exp. One of the reasons I love my druid, quad kited for exp all the way to 55, never had to waste my time in a group, dealing with crappy pullers, wimps that wuss out when they hit half health, or 12 year old's that require an intrepreter to decipher their incomplete sentences.. I understand grouping for deep down where the good stuff is, but when you cant solo a low blue without major downtime, then you have problems. And I really feel bad for soloers playing the gear driven classes, you would have to buy equipment which takes forever to hoard the cash up, unless you are able to hit some of the sweet spots...

Simply Everquest is a fun game in general... Some aspects like hours of leveling and camping items is not. Even with a 52 cleric on a Verant server, I still dont get to see the good stuff. And the stuff that people like Mal are doing is much better than ANY gm event I have ever been to.
To fully enjoy a Verant server you have to dedicate all of your free time, sleep, and life to get the full view of the game. Booo that.
