I just wish every server was 5.3 so that we could have some of the features lost during GoD (like AAs :P)

Is there a version that would work with EQ Evolutions out-of-the-box? If 4.4 did that then I'd say there should be a server that's that version so that those who accidentally patched when they shouldn't have would at least be able to play on one of the servers.

Sure, they'd have to re-install EQ but they'd at least be able to play.

Thats pretty much impossible to do because not all versions of the box are the same. In fact even boxes that look the same could have a different patch on the CD because they were printed and then reprinted again later.

Why would anyone want to go back? Even though everything worked, I think I would rather keep going and try and make it perfect than give up and stick with 0.4.4 and the EQ Files forever.
