Thinking outloud again...

Ok, found an old copy of eqmain.dll (not naming my source)

and can get logged into server screen only to discover that my server wasn't there.

So, went back to eqemu and discovered that world.exe isn't connecting with minilogin. So, now I'm off to try and figure out why not and how to fix. Aah, the joys of EQEMU.
