Perhaps your friend can help get you back to a 5.7dr2 compatible client.

For future reference, if you plan on playing across multiple server versions, keep multiple copies of your EQ client folder. If disk space is tight, at least keep a backup of all EXEs/DLLs from your EQ folder so you can switch those in and out as needed.
