Just a note for this thread...

the login protocol has COMPLETELY changed... as far as I can tell anyways (not sure what it was like between 2002 and now)... it used to be based on the same protocol as the rest of the game, but now it is not.

I have been working on a login server, and am having decent success at it , the protocol is fairly simple. I have looked at that ancient mini-login code, and decided to write mine from scratch. One area that I am having huge problems is decrypting the login/password from the stream, and the communication between the world server and the login server... if anybody has knowledge in this area, please PM me.


Does anybody know if there are real or legal reasons that nobody out there has written an open source login server since 2002? That kinda bothers me, since the new login protocol is so simple, I figure SOMEBODY would have figured it out by now...
