For som eof the really bad ones, I think making them type the section from readme that they need to read before even starting to help them :p

eg. Type the section from the readme that deals with _____ and then I'll help you....

cant give you a ur; but try pirch , its a nice client already using multiple servers since 4 years , or use trillian , it has a irc client built in plus icq , aim and the like
