Anyone else noticed recent lag?
I have read several post's about the recent lag problem after the release of the new EqEMU.. It is about a 30 second lag after entering any "#yourtexthere" command. I had no problem with this in the past, but most recently I have experienced it frequently. I have toyed with the "Datarate.txt" entering in random numbers and trying exemptions but dosent seem to have much effect. Are the servers just getting more load than anticipated with the new release or does it have something to do with LDON? I have benchmarked my conneciton and it seems to be up to par so i belive that the problem isnt my hardware, could be software conflict i suppose though. If anyone else has experienced this i would like to hear about any possible solutions.. Thx..
*System Stats*
Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Athlon 2600 XP - Dual processors.
1.5 GB ram

I'm getting major lag whenever i zone into another zone that isn't my home town. everything takes about 2 mins to react. this includes doors opening, considering npc's and fighting. say i pass a skeleton. it takes 2 minutes for it to start attacking me (by that time i'm long gone) and i can't attack back. i havn't been on anyother server than the fish-wolf server, so it could be a server thing. i'm not sure.

heh, i left the whole project because of the lag...
i was helping tcsmyworld with the db... and the lag was persistant on a LAN!!!!
lol
im not ranting, just saying, its eqemu, not ur net connection...
some people say they dont have problems and stuff... but i've searched and tried everything.. so i guess there's really no fix until the actual code itself is fixed.
in my opinion i would check the threading... check if other processes dependant on preceding processes are getting lagged.

appending this to the above:
erhm, yea, running win2k3 server enterprise edition on an amd 3200+ with 1gb of coarshair 500mhz ram, and its reading off SATAs....
so there is nothing wrong with my server...
next, server has a direct connection to my client comp ... and i've even used different types of cable... and yes, i know im spoiled... i even used fibre :P

This may have something to do with things, I get a ping of 10000 on some servers, but doors open up pretty much instantly and attacking mobs isn't a problem. Apart from the usual, routine disconnects, everything is fine. The ping differs zone to zone also, some giving me a higher ping than others, although upon zoning I usually get an instant 10000 ping and after awhile it drops to about 7000.

Hrmm...
What OS is everyone using? (trying to narrow it down) I'm noticing that all of these problems are (or close to) being the same thing, so probably related to the same cause. If everyone is running a server os, this could be related to the lag issue. I will try modifying the services that i have running while i play eq, and see if i notice a difference.

I think the lag issue is caused by code, not by OS. It's either database or code.

I noticed my P3 was having these delays in doing any activities on the emulator, however my P4 did not have these issues, if anyone finds reasons behind these latency issues, tell me.

p4 2.0 ghz, running XP Pro.
I'm from Australia...but with adsl, the ping shouldn't be 10000 (even more than 10000) anyway...that kind of seems impossible to me.

I run everything locally (two zones) on my P4 2000 with XP Home and experience lag. Its worse in Queynos than in Freeportw (could be related to spells/pets/petspells?). I would like to know if the lag occurs in zones without casters?

On Fish-Wolf, I get the usual 300-600 ping most of the time in the Great Divide, but in other zones such as Karnor's and The Overthere, I experience a ping of 10000 most of the time.

Let me know what database you guys are using, and I'll see if I can recreate the problem and do some performance metrics to figure out the root of it.. I think I have a pretty good idea, but I'd like to recreate what you're seeing to make sure I'm looking at the right thing...

I am using MW_051_052_alpha1 and 0.5.1-DR2. I think the lag is apparent in the vicinity of Soulbinder Novalu in South Qeynos.

I tested this in North Qeynos... Noticed as I went out into the 'newbie' area, the farther away from the city I got, the higher the ping...
Have to investigate this a bit more... Pretty sure its coming from something in the AI logic though...
