LOTR - Return of the King
Just got back from the premier tonight (started 12 am, 12/17). This movie was definately one of the best I have ever seen, and a whopping 3 hours 11 minutes long. If you haven't seen it yet, trust me, this is definately one you need to go out and see in the theaters.
Spoilers suck, don't post them!
Edit: oh yeah, to give you an idea of how good this movie is, nearly everyone was standing up cheering and clapping (really, about 95% - the others were too lazy to get up, but were still cheering), but then again some of the people that went were dressed up like gandalf...

To give you another idea of how good this movie was, here's some quotes from neowin:
"Just got home from RoTK. It was the most amazing movie I have ever seen. My friends and I agree; one of the most fantastic movies ever created. I am in utter awe of how fantastic it was.
I am at a loss for words; I will post more tommorow after I regain my composure and thoughts. "
"I wasn't even really that big a fan of the first 2 but this one was awesome. I went to the midnight showing on the Loews near MSG in the city (NY) and, man, it was an awesome showing. "
"I cried 5 times...seriously though, what an awesome end to an amazing trilogy "
from NXS - " Hehe, i went to the avant premiere yesterday
I recommend all of you to see this, as i think it's the best movie in history"
yeah, in other words, this movie OWNS! and no, it's a great ending, unlike the matrix.

I have to agree.. Went at midnight last night... Without a doubt, the best epic FANTASY ever made, and probably the best EPIC ever made period (Braveheart is another amazing film in that genre to me). I say that this one has a fair chance of harvesting every possible award this coming year. Its now my favorite movie
i think...
Howard Shore is an amazing composer, and the soundtrack is one i'll probably run out today and buy (and I hate buying albums because of the RIAA). Annie Lennox sings a RIVETING song during the closing credits that is reason enough to buy it.
From someone who has read the books, I have to say that Peter Jackson left almost nothing out, and did an amazing job building the story and characters. This is the first time I can remember that fanatical premovie fans were in wholehearted support of what a filmaker did with their raison d'etre .
My wife already wants to see it again, and we just got out of the theater a few hours ago.. It was that good.

Ugh, that'd be unbearable - I know a few people that went to it, they said that they couldn't move after all 3 because it was something around 10 hours long. For me, that's just a bit too much

They did that yesterday (12-17).
Fans got screwed though, scalpers went in and bought 90% of the tickets the second they were available... MOst theaters sold out within hours...
I saw tickets for it selling on ebay for 250$+

I still wonder why it's not possible to pre-order tickets in the US. Can anyone clue me in?

See Trumpcard's post
Scalpers are jerks and usually buy all tickets for an entire weekend. Then NOBODY gets to see it.

Preordering seems to work fine in Germany. So far it has never happened that a single person (not even at launch day or previews) or group has bought all available tickets.
I mean, as long as there's a human sitting on the other end it should be possible to prevent this *shrug*.
Ah well, I don't really care
*grabs the telephone and orders a few tickets for saturday primetime*
