Connection issues

I'm playin the emulator on a 56k modem using compuserve.

For some reason on most servers I have trouble zoning and stuff, like I'll do #zone fieldofbone and it'll crash me to char select screen but when I log back in and I will be in fieldofbone, so it zoned me but I crash to char select for no apparent reason.

Also just now I tried to log into the eqemu.net server and it said it couldnt connect or somethin, the same message you get when verant patches and nobody can log in.

Are the servers down? I was able to log in once than I logged into the playground server and I got to char select and got disconnected, since than I cant log back in =(
