Default Need a sticky

I'm not trying to be a dick here, but it gets a bit old seeing posts asking if a fresh install will work with eqemu. Or how do I get my new install working?
BTW, yes you can get it working but you won't get people telling you on this site how to do it due to regulations.

Maybe the new people on this site are just missing the information they need to know. The big red text at the top of the site saying "Do Not Patch" is pretty obvious but it may be misleading to new posters. Like maybe as long as they do a fresh install and don't patch then it will work.

Just in my microscopic opinion, but how about put a sign up at top directing people to the FAQ section. Something new posters won't miss. "If you are new to this site READ THIS FIRST" or something like that. It would reduce everyones time of filtering through some of the same ol posts. What do you all think? Again not trying to piss anyone off but everyone is probably thinking this, but if new members are educated right off the bat, they will feel better about not posting redundant remarks.

We have been searching for a way to do this for as long as i have been around.

At one pout there was a huge red button on every single page that sayd click here new people, then it was the big red button for dummies, then we made all kinds of stickies, then there was the info that was added when someone sighned up for an acount, then then then ect ect ect.

There is NO WAY to stop the posts because humans are generaly lazy and think there special, so they would rather have people respond to there post instead of click a link. Nothing you think of or anyone else will think of will change this fact, just need to deal with it.

well, for a start, how do i stop that thing from updating my client, becuz if you start it, it automatically goes updating, and if you read the walkthroughs, you'll see that you do need to update or something, so i guess those are out-dated then????

does this have anything the do why the "For Players" buttons are down on http://www.eqemulator.net?

Cheers ICED

To stop from updating either run the game from a dos window with the parameters:

c:\eqemu\eqgame.exe patchme

or create a new shortcut that points to eqgame.exe and add "patchme" without the quotes to the end of the line after you select your file. Either way of running it should work as long as you include the patchme after the executable.
