Trouble logging into servers

i have trouble connecting to all the servers. i did everything that was said on the wiki but i can't get past the server select screen. when i click play the game pretty much crashes, although i can still move my mouse around. i also tried changing the eqhost file to point to Host=209.165.244.252:5998 and that gave me the same thing. any and all help would be appreciated
