Default menu startup problems

Hi, I'm trying to get EQ working, I followed the playguide instructions properly, I think...But when I click on the link I created it has a black screen that comes up, then flashed to minimized size, flashed a couple times then dissapeared.....What do I need to do/or did I do wrong?

Did you get any kind of error?

Most likely you need to adjust your desktop and/or your EQ resolution settings.

Ya actually, the error that comes up says, " The instruction at 0x1000f0ce referenced memory at 0xfffffffc. The memory could not be read." I have windows vista, and also a HP Health Advisor Program, which I had to shut off in order to be able to change the eqhost.txt file. That's where I'm at pretty much. Thanx for the help

Try running in compatibility mode as described in this post:

You mentioned some desktop and resolution settings on an earlier post... May that be the solution?

Ya, I already suggested that here. You definitely should try adjusting your desktop and game resolutions. I think there should be a program in your EQ directory that you can run to change the settings without having to launch EQ. It is something like eqconfig.exe or something.
