Ok, I've been playing on that server, just curious if there were any others. The bots on The Realm are a lot of fun. I'm just surprised that there is like zero population on the server.

Seems to me there are a ton of servers with bots, or at least trying them out. Unfortunately, none specifically come to mind at the moment, as I tend not to mess with them.

Quiet is nice. When you can do raid encounters at higher levels, you don't want a high-population server where everything is killed constantly.

Bots ? lol as in Macroquest???

yeah well i don't really think thats cool and frankly i don't think it should be allowed in the eqemu community... not sure why the devs / mods here have laxed on this but it's revolting... People like myself who work on a server for as long as I have (6+ years now off and on) should not have to let this thing get past us...

For me this is no longer a tennis match and no longer just ok to let them get away with it.. I am glad the MQ2 stuff went in but why allow such things to even exist around here is beyond me...

Now if i am Confusing your BOTS with something else thats not MQ2 I apologize but i needed to get that off my chest... The job you guys are doing in EQEMU now the devs is so amazing btw.. Not saying that you agree with this... I hope that the catches for more cheaters comes in soon and I hope that we rid the community once and for all of them...

King

Please Mods, I veto to have any such Macro quest / MQ2 discussions on eqemu forums deleted

PSS .. If you are talking about BOTS as in some new Everquest Feature OMG please forgive me haha

The ignorant have spoken! All bow down to the ignorant and heed their will!

Seriously KingMort. Heres a appropriate quote. It is better to be quiet and thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt.

What confuses me, is the project has been going on for years, was a major thread in the "Developement custom Code" section, has an entry on the EQEmu Wiki, and now it's own forum subsection. Furthermore, several servers have started saying things like "Server Name --- Custom Legit --- Bots Enabled!" or "we have bots!"

Regardless of all this, you (KingMort) acts like this is a surprising new development that suddenly arose from nowhere, rogue coders trying to impliment devious code to ruin EQEmu. And rather then do a little research to confirm these suspicions, your first response was to post a rant here about how this horrible practice shouldn't be allowed. Unless of course, you actually have no idea what we are actually talking about, but hope some other horrible practice shouldn't be allowed, and are confusing that one and this one.

Here, let me explain it.

What bots do is allow you to summon a raid force of bots; up to 71 of them; of class and race composition up to you. They start naked (no free gear, unless you're already playing on a freedom server) and they are made to behave as much like 71 random players as possible. They buff their own groups, but won't buff out of groups, don't use discs very effectively, can't use some AA's, Clerics won't make complete heal chains...but on the bright side, they don't Ninja AFK.

So instead of playing as an indivudual, you play as a raid-leader of a raid guild, as much of EQ content was designed for in regards to the Velious, Luclin, and Planes of Power content. Rather then making content easier or trying to come up with the numbers required (hard on any but the most popular servers) you can actually play through EQ as if it was live. The project is referred to as "EQOffline" as it allows a person to set up their own server offline and still run a raid (but several online servers offer the same option)

Perhaps not surprisingly, this has nothing to do with Macroquest. On the bright side, you had the foresight to apologize, if not to refrain from making the post.

I love hugs. Now, the self rightous annoy the hell out of me and the above isnt your first self rightous post.

Truth is, without MQ and ShowEQ, I doubt Emu would be where it is today.

Ok didn't mean to offend you to each his own I guess..

I personally hate MQ because I played live since 2001 and I think it went a long way to ruin Everquest.. Also since I have worked on my server for so long , it sucks when people come on it and cheat to give themselves an unfair advantage.... That would be 6 years of my life basicly going to waste... Perhaps you were someone I banned from my server for using MQ... And thats why your after me so hard core... Who knows, but I have been around this project a hell of a lot longer than you friend.. And I will tell you this it does no good for this community as far as Server Ops like myself... So as I said to each his own and please mind your mouth because you do not have the full story because obviously you have never put that much effort into something then have some A$$hole come and exploit the crap out of things giving him and his friends an unfair advantage..

Again no offense to the BOT program, that actually sounds really cool !!!

But if you want a debate Macroquest.. You will not find me backing down from my end of the argument...

Sorry PSS...

We are now looking into engaging BOTS on RA <----- Which i would call shady terms btw... (We will call them Hired Goons as they were originally invented on Raid Addicts)

The Idea sounds great and will certainly be a huge upgrade to our original Goons!

However if your a player on my server these features will be certainly very expensive!!! Expect to pay lots of plat or guk coins hehe

Thanks for telling me about this and sorry for the confusion about the topic originally..

All praise to TheLieka on the anti-MQ work. Really wish the punishment system would make it into the source. As it stands, only the detection is in.

And guys, each of you lighten up. Was silly for KingMort to post a huge denunciation without looking around the forums, but just read it and laugh like I did. It was funny, especially since he ended the post admitting he could be wrong.

Ah well, hope you have luck with the bot setup on RA =)
