Default chat channels

anyone able to help with chat channel issue? everything seems to be running as it should be except when i log in and i get "unable to connect to chat channels, no request will be sent" message.

i have port for chat channel set up for 10234 and port is forwarded, and i get no error messages when loading server up. any ideas on this or threads explaining chat channels that is updated.

i have an account on the grand creation ive been playing and the channels do work there.

thanks.

Just a quick question you did alter your eqemu_config file to reflect 10234 as your chatserver and mailserver ports? Default is set to 7778 and 7779. Nevermind I just reread your post. Are you starting the chatserver.exe after the server is running?

thanks for replying,

for 1 i you are correct as i did not have chatserver.exe set in my start.bat file. i went ahead and put it in there. now when i start up im seeing chatserver opens and closes real quick.

This is a newer version i compiled myself and using all the correct files from the compile. any ideas why it would open and close back. cant read it to see what errors it has. there something i can put into log.ini settings to make it log it?

there any current reads on chat and mail parts of eqemu?

thanks

The chatserver.exe would open and close right away usually if the ports weren't configured properly. If that is not your case possibly your mail_opcodes are incorrect? Can you post your eqemu_config file and what you have for the mail opcodes? I know it may not be the case but just so we can see.

general tip if it's closing right away: create a subfolder called logs\ if it's not already there and check the debug file it generates to see what it's erroring out and exiting.
Alternatively, run the executable from the command line so when it exits out the exiting message will still be available when it returns to prompt.

first sorry for the doulbe post, internet delayed there and i didnt think it went thru,

second i did just find out the problem and you are correct again. i just found a explanation that mail and chat are using the same port. once i changed them both to 10234, it worked like a charm.

thanks again for the help, was very usefull.
